Today on The Wedding Chicks blog is a photo shoot that I did with some very talented vendors in Temecula and I can't wait to show you the photos! We were going for a whimsical look with rich colors. The meadow was a perfect fit!

Jake and I are on the Wedding Chicks today... and it is pretty much amazing!

And so while we are all sharing the love I must say that a stop over here, and here are also full of gorgeous images and wonderful people.

The weather is fall like and makes me want a pumpkin spiced latte and a sweater = perfection.

Modern Inspiration with Yellow and Stripes

The Utterly Engaged party was awesome! So many great people and amazing food. Amazing.

Total bummer that my camera broke from hitting the table weird when I was sitting my food down on the table.... but, it's okay.... I'm missing being able to take pictures with it already. Sad face.

Loving that I get a whole half day with the husband and I am going to try and see Inception because I have not heard a single bad thing about it and I am super curious.

I came across this image awhile back and saved it for a rainy day. I think this would be a great inspiration for a modern wedding. The stripes, the yellow, the printed rug, the purple, white, and metallic gray.... even the stack of books. Very modern and hipster with a splash of prep.

In the midst of all the milk glass lovin', mason jar usin', wildflower pickin' pictures that are all the crazy right now, I just figured I'd bring a bit of a different image to the crowd.

I've been thinking of how true this is for me lately. I love it.

I'm very excited because I LOVE them and I have met Amy a few times and I find her to be a sweetheart. I even got a custom Wedding Chicks tote bag made for me with my logo last wednesday at our monthly North County Happy Hour. LOVE LOVE LOVE it and I will share it with you soon because it's linen and beautiful.

And there was a debate over the weekend of staged shoots on blogs vs. real weddings. For the record I am pro staged shoots. As an artist I look at it as a piece of art. And I love looking at art and inspiration.

Happy 10 years to my amazing husband Jake!!!

Yes, we are those people who bleed hopeless romantic. We have not been married 10 years yet, but we like to celebrate our first date.

Ten years ago today, two teens went to see The Patriot and got some ice cream. Today the hubby has surprised me with a dinner cruise in San Diego and a movie.
Jake couldn't wait till this morning to get his gift, so he begged me to let him open it at midnight. When he opened the box and saw hundreds of sealed envelopes tied together in batches he was so confused until I pointed out that they were numbered. 365 love "tidbits". One per day for a year. I had been working on it for a couple of months, so I was so happy that he finally got to be let in on the secret.

An Envelope Guest Book via Martha Stewart Weddings:

How Martha does it:

Transform a store-bought album into a guest book that has a handmade feel. Use double-sided tape to affix envelopes in assorted sizes and colors to the pages of a plain-paper photo album or scrapbook. Leave cards and a pen on a table for guests to write wishes. When they're done, they can tuck their cards inside the envelopes for the bride and groom to enjoy later.

And on the other sides of the pages you can affix photos of you two... very cute.

Friday is finally here! I am making my way over to San Diego today for a wonderful wedding rehearsal tonight and then the big wedding day tomorrow! Robyn has been such a great bride to work with. I heart her and her wedding. :)

Yesterday was amazing! I had my makeup done by the wonderful Erica Beukelman of 10.11.Makeup.

Then it was off to a lemon grove in Rainbow, CA with Wendy from Blue Lily Photography and it was sooo much fun! We picnicked and frolicked and laughed and found some really odd shaped lemons. It was great and I cannot wait till I see all the finished photos. And then afterwards with the Just Us Girls at Miramonte Winery. Lots of fun was had!

Whew! I totally stayed up until 3:30am working on a project. I'm exhausted! But I've had a massive amount of coffee and now I'm ready to go.

Today will be awesome! I have Erica from 10.11. Makeup doing my makeup and then my husband and I are meeting Wendy and Tyler at a lemon grove to take some AMAZING pictures! And then it is off to Just Us Girls night at Miramonte Winery. It'll be my first time there and I'm excited!

It's funny that I spent many months after moving to California just trying to figure out how to manage living here because it is all just so different from DC/Virginia. And now that I've been here almost a year if someone told me I had to move away I'd probably cry. I guess you can say that this place is growing on me... : )

My husband and I will be celebrating our first 10 years together in June.

We have only been married 1 1/2 years but we like to celebrate the anniversary of our first date. Yes, we are really that cute. :)

I have this huge project that I have been working on to give him. I can't say anything because I want it to be super secret. But it will blow his mind and I'm very excited about it.

Our anniversary isn't until June but with my schedule the way it is, I have to start on it early.

So, today is about LOVE. I think it's very fitting.

Hello Love.

I'm at that point where I still feel like I'm fresh out of college(it's been 1 1/2years) and I'm still in full on artist mode. I want to create and "take on the world". It creates a few problems because there are only 24 hours in a day and taking on the world with your creativity gives you a lot to do in a 24 hour period. I've been thinking for awhile about how I'll use my artistic drive. That's how I decided to become an event planner/designer. But I want to also be able to create tangible things everyday. If that makes any sense.

So I'm going to finally open up my own etsy shop in the next few weeks. I have lots of creating to do in that time, and I'm in love with the idea.

Today I will be picking up one of my best friends from the airport. Gray is visiting us till early Tuesday and I am so excited I barely slept. After having Jake's parents visit last weekend it made me even more antsy to have this visit from Gray. We have lots of fun stuff planned including a beach day. I am so thankful that I am able to take the time to spend with him. I'll be seeing him in about 3 hours!

Gray is on the right. This was just a funny shot from our wedding day a couple of years ago. We haven't gotten to see much of him since then. I plan on taking just as many pictures of this trip as I did last weekend.

It looks like Efflorescence might be winning. It has gotten 5 loves and 118 views on The Dessy Group website so far and it is also a personal favorite of mine. There is something about the combination of pinks and golds that draw me in.

Found: EMERSONMADE

This husband and wife designer team make just about everything. You can buy a handmade bloom to put on your shoes or your lapel or a sash or your hair. You can even buy blooms with love notes in them. Use them as favors, use them as decoration in your house or on yourself. There are so many posibilites!

Aren't they just adorable? And I really admire husband and wife teams. Mine helps me whenever he can and I love him all the more for it. Exploring EmersonMade's blog really got me missing the East Coast though. With the classic styles and timeless pieces. I miss driving through Middleburg, VA and stopping for brunch, and seeing all the women in their Sunday bests. Geez, I guess I know where I'll be going the next time I visit the east! You know the saying... you can take the girl out of the east coast but you can't take the east coast out of the girl. It's very true. :)

The Dessy Group is having an Inspiration Board contest that I want to enter but I am only able to choose one to go in and I can't decide. I was hoping for some help.

First one up is "A Blushing Romance"

What about "Urban Opulence"

Then there is "Citrus Drop"

"Efflorescence" is a big favorite too

"Sumptuous Love" is a great one

"Dulcet Love" is a simple one with big dreams

Today's Inspiration Board is named Petrichor, which means the smell of earth after the rain.

I'm a big fan of using the stacked boxes as both the centerpieces and favors at the end of the night. And that cake is just asking me to take a big bite out of it.

Yesterday I had a meeting with Rancho Bernardo Inn to discuss the May 8th Wedding I will be doing. That venue is amazing. I loved the large oil paintings on the walls and the gorgeous spanish style decor. Here are a few snapshots I got(I wasn't able to get any of the ballroom):

Where I spent part of my weekend...

It was amazing to see my mother and father-in-law this weekend. But they are back on the East Coast now and it is time to get back to the real world. :) It certainly makes a mundane Monday more exciting though.... now it's time to count down the days until my good friend Gray comes to vist us. On Friday. Through Tuesday. Amazing!!! We have such awesome plans made up.

Today was GREAT! I had a blast with my in-laws and surprised my husband who swears he didn't know anything was going on. It was so awesome seeing Jim and Susan after 9 months of being gone from the East Coast. Love them!

Tomorrow is jam-packed too. I am going to take them to see The Mission Inn Hotel where many presidents have stayed and even one got married there. The perfect place for someone who is looking for a location with history, old-fashioned glamour and romance. It's even better in person, these pictures below don't do it justice.

Happy Birthday to Jake!

My husband Jake and I have celebrated about 14 of his birthdays together and I think this one might just top them all.... it's a good one. Really good, but I still can't say anything.

For this Wednesday(how'd it get here so fast?) here is a "rustic chic" tablescape from Carter & Cook Event Co.:

I love the cotton candy at each place setting, the fabric applique on the place cards and the long benches instead of chairs. Lovely touches like that really make an intriguing tablescape. This one was for Exquisite Weddings Magazine and you can check them out here.

I have a very exciting next few days and I can't wait to share them with you! I've made space in my camera and I'm ready to take lots of photos of all the fun. More information tomorrow!

The colors are much brighter in person but I am so happy with the pattern. They will be perfect for the tea party in May. I want to find them now in silver instead of gold.... the hunt begins.

This inspiration board that I put together is one of my favorites. It's not too strong if a pink and the black gives it a bit of a masculine feel for your man. A subtle vintage feel is lovely. And you can't beat silhouettes for that custom piece that you'll keep forever. Throw a little cameo in there and perfect.

Happy Etsy Wedding Find Monday!

First up:

This beautiful hairpiece is from the etsy shop of Londonxox. It is made from selected feathers and Swarovski Rhinestone Crystals. Gorgeous!

This simple detail but big statement piece is made by Our Hobby To Your Home. I am really liking the yellow!

This next find is a bit non-traditional but I think it is a great idea, especially for the couple that don't have an adress book put together yet.

This Wedding Guest Book from Cut The Cake Designs is offered in many different colors and designs. All your guest needs to do is take one of the cards and fill out their information along with a well wishing note to you and file it under their last name. It's the new rolodex... I think I want one for myself.

The impact this next item makes is huge. The pom pom look is back and gives your wedding that pop of fun and color you may be looking for.

Today is the start of a very exciting and busy several weeks around here. We have lots of meetings and entertaining to do and I have loved ones visiting us from 3000 miles away. I haven't seen them for almost a year and I can't be happier about it.

I've decided to get the ipad for my birthday next month. It came out on Saturday and when I went to check it out, I put in my web address and there was just something about seeing myself in it that sealed the deal.

One of my favorite Wedding Designers in San Diego is Amorology. They are amazing and I find myself gravitating to their designs in magazines even when I don't know it's them. So it is no surprise that two of their weddings are up for The Knot's Wedding of the Year! I love both of the weddings but my favorite is the one above named "love bird, shabby chic wedding". Vote for it here.

Today I'm thinking about whether or not to get an ipod touch or wait till fall and get an iphone. Heck, maybe I should just get an ipad! I would if my husband's head wouldn't explode from jealousy. I'm lucky to be able to get such a good deal on Apple products because I have a husband who works on the weekend at Apple for fun.

I found beautiful plates at Marshall's for $1 each yesterday and they are perfect! I will post a picture of them later.

While cakes are great and beautiful, cupcakes are just as great and beautiful. They feel like a gift more than a treat. It's made just for you, with love.

Both Brides and Birthday girls are going to cupcake route. Instead of a regular cake or just as favors.

A friend gave me a day-by-day tear off calendar for Christmas last year and I spent all of 2009 baking cupcakes. I was known as the cupcake lady at both mine and my husband Jake's work. It was a delectable time.

I found this poem that Laura from Laura's Cupcake Shack received from her husband Anthony. It is one of the reasons why I believe cupcakes really are like gifts.
